My name is Matt Ayres, and I make music in my bedroom. My first EP is called Antarctica and it's available here - you can download it for free, because I'm nice like. I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed writing it!

Track Name: Take Your Shot
Let's take this slow, we've got all this time and nowhere else to go
I wanna know all the parts of you that you won't ever show
If what you said is true, the least you can do is let all your demons loose
I don't want this to be another wasted song that you don't act on

Take your shot, I'll take my chances
'Cause you're all I've got in this hurricane we started
Take your shot, I'll take my chances
There's nowhere else I'd rather fall

I'm immature, I'm insecure and hating every minute
I wouldn't second guess I'll be your first regret
The one you won't forget
Our ties will bind us even when they're frayed and torn
'Cause I'll be holding on

Sink into this bed without you next to me
The mattress is still warm from where you used to be
Memories are folded into every crease
And when I fall asleep you'll haunt me in my dreams
Next time you come around I'll let you have your way
Change the world for you and hope to God you'll stay
I want the world to know that you're my everything
But they're not listening to me
Track Name: Rockhopping
Wake up from the night I spent without you to the day I learn to breathe
'Cause the oxygen you gave me wasn't what it'd seemed
And my lungs struggled just to cope with the changes
In my atmosphere when you rearranged it

I sit on the riverside we walked down, countless times you didn't see
All the beauty in the wildlife, it always meant so much to me
I guess you were too busy living your own life
To ever notice the world that surrounds you is alive
Or that you might need it more than you realise

So I'll spend this morning sat on the rocks
Watching the birds, forgetting your words
And feel better than you made me feel
And I'll spend this evening stood at the docks
Watching the boats staying afloat
And feel better than you made me feel
Track Name: Bloodstains
It's down to this after everything we did
To keep this going, watch this flow into a landslide and bury both of us
You're walking in on a war you'll never win, and it's not the first time

This will be the last song that I write about you
You are just wasted ink on a page that will be torn through by the time that you hear it

It's like a photograph that's fading faster from its frame than if you left it hidden from daylight
Now the image in my mind of you is unrecognisable
You were dressed up sharp that night you stabbed my in the back, I guess the knife you carried was sharper
At least the bloodstains on your dress are a beautiful mess

It's down to this now we finally called it quits
You were going down a storm until the thunder finally drowned you out
Now the rain's flooding everything again, and you're drowning alone in a river of lies and shame

This will be the last song that I write about you
You are just wasted thoughts in a boy that will forget you by the time that you hear it
Track Name: Antarctica
My heart's as cold as winter, you never warm it with your smile
Although our future's hazy, the sky is clear enough to fly
When this wasteland freezes over, I'll learn the right ways to survive
Without you to embrace me, I'll learn to brave the storm in time

I'm ready to take flight, I'm leaving for Antarctica tonight
Where coloured lights illuminate the sky
And if I glide across, safe on the wings of an albatross
Would you smile as I wave to you goodbye?

The snow falls all around me, but my layers keep me warm and dry
Whilst my nest on the cliff-face endures the blizzards and the ice
I'll make a great explorer amongst the penguins and the whales
I'll follow the aurora and take the sunshine with the gales

You'll never know the way I felt about you
Now you will know I am gone
